Invoice Generator for France

By Harlequin Doyon

In France the invoice — the facture — is a formal document with required mentions, whether you're a micro-entrepreneur billing your first client or an established SARL. Speed Invoices lets you build one online and download the PDF for free, with no signup, and your data never leaves your browser.

Mentions a French facture needs

  • Your identity — name or company name, address, and your SIREN/SIRET number.
  • Your client's identity — name and address (plus their details for B2B).
  • A sequential invoice number — an unbroken series; configurable numbering keeps it consistent.
  • Dates — the issue date and the date of the sale or service if different.
  • Line items — each service or product with quantity and unit price (HT).
  • TVA — the rate and amount per line or as a breakdown, then the total TTC.
  • Payment terms — due date and any late-payment conditions.

TVA: 20% standard, with an exemption for micro-entrepreneurs

The standard TVA rate is 20%, with reduced rates of 10% and 5.5% for certain goods and services. A typical B2B service facture:

  • Prestation de services: €2,000 HT
  • TVA (20%): +€400
  • Total TTC: €2,400

If you're an auto-entrepreneur / micro-entrepreneur under the franchise de TVA, you don't charge TVA at all — but your facture must carry the exact wording « TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI ». In Speed Invoices, add that line in your invoice notes and skip the tax line entirely.

Building your facture in Speed Invoices

Set the currency to EUR, add a "TVA 20%" tax line (or 10%/5.5% where they apply), and the HT/TVA/TTC totals calculate automatically. Add your logo, use rich-text descriptions for the prestation, choose a PDF template, and download. The same editor also produces devis-style quotes, receipts, credit notes (avoirs), and purchase orders.

Working with clients across the border? The Netherlands page covers BTW invoices, and the UK page covers post-Brexit invoicing from the client's side.
